VTS Group is expanding its product portfolio with HOMER - a heat recovery unit designed for ventilation systems in houses and apartments.

The unit has been developed for applications where continuous air exchange, heat recovery, compact installation and simple operation are required. HOMER supplies fresh, filtered outdoor air to the building and removes extract air from indoor spaces, while transferring energy between the two air streams through a heat exchanger.

Application in residential ventilation systems

In modern residential buildings, increasing airtightness improves the thermal performance of the building envelope but also increases the need for controlled mechanical ventilation. HOMER is intended for systems where stable air exchange, indoor air quality and energy efficiency must be considered together.

The unit can be used in new buildings as well as in modernization projects, depending on available installation space and ductwork layout. Its compact casing and optimized position of connection spigots support flexible integration into different ventilation system configurations.

Airflow range and unit variants

The HOMER range includes HRV and ERV versions with nominal airflow capacities suitable for residential applications. The available models include 350, 450 and 600 versions, with corresponding maximum airflows of 350, 450 and 600 m³/h.

This allows designers and installers to select the unit according to the required air volume, building size and ventilation system design.

Heat recovery and humidity recovery options

HOMER is available with two types of heat exchangers:

  • Counterflow heat exchanger

This option is designed for high heat recovery efficiency. According to the technical data, the heat recovery efficiency reaches up to 90%, depending on the model.

  • Enthalpy heat exchanger

This option recovers both heat and moisture. It can be useful in applications where maintaining a more stable indoor humidity level is important, especially during periods when indoor air may become too dry.

Key components and construction

HOMER is built with a galvanized, powder-coated steel outer casing and an internal casing made of pressure-moulded expanded polypropylene. This construction supports mechanical durability, thermal insulation and acoustic insulation.

The unit includes low-noise fan assemblies with EC motors, designed for efficient operation and airflow control. Built-in temperature and humidity sensors monitor operating conditions in the air ducts. The unit also includes an integrated electric preheater for frost protection during low outdoor temperatures.

Filtration is provided by supply and extract filters. The unit design allows tool-free filter replacement, which simplifies regular maintenance and reduces service time.

Control and operation

HOMER includes integrated automation and a built-in Wi-Fi module. The unit can be connected to the dedicated HOMER Connect mobile application, allowing users to monitor and control operation remotely.

The unit supports standard operating modes for residential ventilation, including:

  • ECO mode – focused on heat recovery and reduced energy consumption
  • Schedule mode – operation based on the user’s daily timetable
  • Night cooling – automatic night-time temperature reduction when conditions allow

The integrated control system supports stable operation and helps adjust ventilation performance to actual operating co

Installation and service access

HOMER can be installed in two configurations:

  • Wall-mounted installation using a dedicated mounting rail
  • Floor installation using a specially designed base

Both installation options are intended to provide stable positioning and convenient service access. The wall-mounted version can be useful where floor space is limited, while the floor base provides an alternative when wall installation is not preferred or not possible.

Factory-integrated controls and complete wiring support Plug & Play installation. After correct connection according to the installation manual and basic configuration, the unit is ready for operation.

From a service perspective, the design provides access to key components without unnecessary dismantling. Tool-free filter replacement and direct access to internal elements make regular maintenance simpler for installers and service teams.

Compliance and quality standards

HOMER has been designed to meet European market requirements. The unit is ErP Ready, CE marked and UKCA compliant. It is manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.

These certifications confirm that the unit meets requirements related to product safety, energy-related performance, manufacturing consistency and environmental management.

Summary

HOMER is a compact heat recovery unit for residential ventilation systems, combining heat recovery, optional humidity recovery, integrated automation, Wi-Fi connectivity and flexible installation options.

For HVAC designers and installers, the main practical advantages are the available HRV and ERV variants, airflow range up to 600 m³/h, compact construction, integrated controls, tool-free filter replacement and two installation methods.

The unit is intended for residential projects where indoor air quality, energy efficiency, ease of installation and service access are key design considerations.
